“The video gaming industry has the potential to reach one in three people on the planet and will be a critical partner if we are to win the greatest multiplayer challenge of our time: climate change”, says co-founder of Playing For The Planet Alliance.

The UN backed alliance – consisting of the biggest companies in the video games industry such as Sony Interactive Entertainment, Microsoft, Google Stadia and MAG Interactive – have committed to harness the power of their platforms to take action on the climate crisis. The battle has already started with several great initiatives such as building green activations into games and reducing plastic in products. Just sensational!

Use a video game to turn neglected urban spaces into vibrant places that improve quality of life? Why not said the organizations Mojang, Microsoft, and UN-Habitat, and started the innovative collaboration Block by Block.

By using Minecraft, they empower youth that don’t typically have a voice in the community conversations around how to shape the city around them. To date, Block by Block has catalyzed the revitalization of urban neighborhoods in 37 countries, impacting the lives of more than 1.8 million people. And this just seems to be the start! Hooray!
