Today overfishing is a big problem - the global supply of fish simply cannot match the demand in a sustainable way. Pollution is another challenge: microplastics, heavy metals and other toxins in our fish mean that fresh meat, caught and raised in rivers and sea can cause health issues.
So what if we could still enjoy this delicious food - but without environmental and health concerns? Hong Kong based startup Avant Meat is growing complete fish fillets in its lab, claiming to have found a way that is cleaner, safer, more efficient, more sustainable and provides better quality meat compared to conventional industrial fishing methods.
